FRC 2018 Season – Durham College Competition

Last weekend, we went out to Oshawa for the Durham College Regional Event. We had a lot of packing to do as we were taking both our teams bot and pit, as well as Lisgar Robotics’ robot and supplies. We arrived at Durham College as the event began.

With the very little practice we were able to give the drive team during build season, we didn’t have the smoothest beginning in the qualifiers. However, our drive team pulled through and did their best. We got to meet up with the rest of Ottawa’s teams, especially the latest addition, Lisgar Robotics.

Unfortunately we faced several mechanical and programming issues with the spine of our robot throughout the weekend. But the team pulled through with pit rotations, and having a variety of inputs from different members of the team on how to fix each issue.

Our team also presented their Chairman’s Award submission to the judges at Durham. We even had our mentor, Mr. Morrison get nominated for the Woodie Flowers Award. We stayed for the award ceremonies to support our fellow teams as they went up for their awards. The RoboRavens congratulate  Ottawa’s rookie team, the Lisgar Lords, on making it to the quarterfinals on the seventh alliance, as well as winning the Highest Rookie Seed Award and Rookie Inspiration Award. Also congratulations to teams 610, 4476, and 6110 for winning!

Despite not making it to eliminations at Durham, we still had a blast and learned a lot! We came back with a greater determination to do better at our next event at North Bay.
